Todays Catch

I have been on a fabric shopping spree.
Here are some of the things I came home with:

In the upper left corner there is some velor fabric that I plan to sew doll clothing out of. In the top right corner there is vinyl fabric that I plan to make toilet bags out of.  Also there are fabrics for children hats in the bunch.  Last but not least is the fabric that I will sew a Norwegian Stakk out of, that I will have on me at the 17th of May, which is Norway's birthday.

Here are some more detailed pictures of the fabric I will use to sew my Stakk.

I will post more pictures as a start to sew the Stakk. And of course at the end when its all finished.

Even a migraine can inspire

Today started with a booming headache. I went to work in the hope that it would pass. But shortly after, the headaches had developed into migraines When I Came home from work about an hour, I went straight to bed. I fell asleep quickly, and when I woke up 5 hours later, this was the first thing I saw:

This is a pillowcase leaning against the wall.

Here is what I saw:

A raccoon up in the right corner, A goose in the middle and a fox on the bottom.

Strange how you can get inspired  by the simplest things!

Weekend Update

Have had is an incredibly efficient weekend. Dinner and movie with my brother on Friday after work, school, and dinner at my grandmother <3 on Saturday and moreschool work today before my sister dragged me on a walk around Kalvøya in sunny weather, while the car was washed inside and out, followed by more school work. Now, as soon as my love returnes from a weekend in London I look forward to an houron the couch until it's time to go to bed.

My mother and my grandmother

Next week I week be blogging a lot more. The thing about this weekend is that I have been having this assignment on my conscience for quite some time now. And after I had a nice encouraging chat with my mother in law, I decided to get my head out of my ass, person my french, and just get cracking. So i dedicated this weekend to my future interior designer career. Here are some of the things I have been working on:

I follow this store on twitter! They have totally cute stuff on their website. Retro meets modern, just how I LOVE it! Check it out!

Testing testing..

Last week I went for a walk at Høvikodden to test out my new camera, Nikon J 1J.
Here are the results:

I was looking for inspiration, patterns, textures, colors, lighting and compositions.

Here on the left we have a creature named Piper. She loves to hike as long as she doesn't have to wear a leash. You can also see why this tree inspires me, V for Vanessa! In the right picture I have taken a piece of sand to show the texture

Here I have taken two images of trees to display natural color combinations

On these two pictures, I have focused on lighting, which is totally natural light from the sun, notice the texture and the life of the wood

These pictures were taken with the idea of composition. To the left you can see the tree, creating a higher balance, although it is not centered.

To the right you will see that the subject is centered but the light, depth and texture creates tension, which makes the whole picture more interesting.

if you look closely, you can see a little creature named Piper on the path in front of the tree, on the image to the left.)

Todays work

Here is a picture of todays progress. I am going to put a keychain ring in the loop on the top. I started with the narrow pattern but after I started to sew I came up with the rounder model, it was so much easier to sew round the edge because of the narrow fabric-edge on each side of the buttons on the first pattern. Besides, I simply love the rounder model, i think its so cute!
I originally planed to fill the owls, and they are still open on the bottom, so the option is still there, but after I had pressed them flat, I started to think that maybe they are prettiest when they are flat.. Any suggestions? What do you think??

My new project!

Here you see a "in progress" picture of one of my new projects. I did some online-surfing last night and found a little inspiration on etsy's website. Can you guess what the results is going to be?

It takes about 10 minutes to sew one of these from start to finish. You'll need some filt and a couple of buttons in addition to the two fabrics as you see here. I will post more pictures of the finished product later on.
